Bunclody has been selected to represent Ireland at the International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale 2018, called the Free Market, and exploring common spaces to be found in market towns and taking place on Saturday, May 26th.
A recent meeting of Enniscorthy Municipal District Council recommended the attendance of Cllr Barbara-Anne Murphy on behalf of Wexford County Council to Venice where Bunclody will feature as part of the international exhibit.
The members approved Cllr Murphy on the proposal of Cllr Willie Kavanagh and seconded by Cllr Keith Doyle.
Following the exhibition there will be a national road show in 2019 followed by a symposium on market towns.
Enniscorthy District Manager, Liz Hore told WexfordToday.com; “Bunclody will be holding its own exhibition with support from Enniscorthy Municipal District so that local people and agencies who are working together for a shared vision for Bunclody can see the fruits of their efforts promoting a sense of pride in the town.”
Ms Hore added that “Bunclody is not just a model of good practices at national level, but is now recognised at international level,” and she concluded that “Bunclody is proving that there is a strong future for rural towns who provide a great sense of community pride, quality of life, and ‘can do’ attitude.
